Marianne & Al, Part I

Finally I'm done looking through all the wedding photos from Marianne and Al's italian wedding :) They've been really patient. Here are a few; they were completely in their comfort zone, playing along, which makes photographing such a pleasant task! Here's the STRIPEY pix!

Renovation - Part II

Espen and I are spending a lot of time figuring out how our new home is going to turn out. We're not doing so much hands-on work these days, but we're planning, having lengthy meetings with the architect, figuring out which builders to use, what kind of style we want etc etc. It's really time-consuming, sometimes frustrating and slightly frightening as this project is so big (renovating the whole flat and building out a new floor on the loft). But we're sticking through, are staying friends (!) and feel fortunate :)

Leading a Debate

... about food, fairness in the industry, consumption, the responsibility of the consumer. This was a while ago though, but I just got this pic.

People need to...

People need to be made more aware of the need to work at learning how to live because life is so quick and sometimes it goes away too quickly.

My Favourite Book at the Moment

This is my favourite book at the moment. Lots of lengthy interviews with great writers, who dive into long-lasting documentary style writing projects. I'm really fascinated by this kind of work; with finding a story you believe in so much that you don't mind spending lots and lots of time on it. Which is usually months or years and at most times almost takes over your life during that time. I've learned a lot from this book and will keep going back to it.

Junior - 2 months in

In january I got involved with Aftenposten Junior. Quite randomly I was asked if I wanted to be part of developing this new concept. I jumped at it a week later, and started working with Guri, the editor, 50% of my time. The process has been super interesting, exciting and educational. During the process we've spoken to several hundred children, asking them what they want. We've put our brains together, and worked hard :)

At the end of april, we launched. Now we've been going for 2 months, with a new Junior out every tuesday. We're 4 people committed to this now. Still, we meet and speak to children every week. We have lots of Junior-reporters involved and try our best to make a paper that engages, challenges, inspires and educates our young readers and the new generation.

I have therefore slowly left the freelance life for a while - so I can see Junior take off, big time!

Seeing Aung San Suu Kyi

I went to the press-conference in Oslo yesterday, to see Aung San Suu Kyi. The places were limited, so I was actually quite pleased that our new kids newspaper, Aftenposten Junior, got priority! It was quite a nice moment, seeing this incredible lady. We waited for 90 minutes until she appeared, but that's ok, she's been waiting for more than 20 years!

Cousins

Here Anne-Stine, newly-wed Marianne and I are on the beach in Monterosso, Italy.
There's plenty more pictures to come. These days I'm editing and looking through tons of images taken of the newly-weds and of all of us on our very nice holiday. I can't wait til I'm done, so I can show Marianne, Al and the rest of the family!

Jazz in Harlem

In april I spent two weeks in NYC, mostly to document a jazz-lady living in Harlem. One sunday I went to a jazz cafe with my cousin Anne-Stine and my friend Andrea (the one with the fantastic curly hair). Here we're being played to :)

Green Carpet

Check out the work of public artists GaĆ«lle Villedary, who last year helped the French village of Jaujac celebrate the 10th year of its arts and nature trail programs by cutting a new green path through its city center. Using some 168 rollers of turf grass, spanning 420 meters (or nearly 1,400 feet), the public artists wound 3.5 tons of natural material through the streets of the old town. Pretty cool!
